The Birch Bots are in business! The 2015 NYC Regional FRC Rookie All-Star Award winners are heading to St. Louis for the championship rounds! The Birch Bots could not be more thankful to FIRST and the FRC community for welcoming us in to the world of robotics with open arms and providing us with great support. As a first year team, we are trying to create a solid foundation for the future of Birch Wathen Lenox robotics. As such, we are extremely grateful to begin our program as Rookie All Stars and we hope to sustain this level of enthusiasm for years to come.
Per the prerequisites set forth by FIRST Robotics, the Rookie All-Star Award “celebrates the rookie team exemplifying a young but strong partnership effort, as well as implementing the mission of FIRST to inspire students to learn more about science and technology” (FRC Awards Page). The Birch Bots are honored to be considered among the teams that illustrate teamwork and embody FIRST ideals. As a school and community, Birch Wathen Lenox prides itself on maintaining Integrity, Loyalty and Civility. The Birch Bots are overjoyed and proud to bring home this award to a school whose foundation has inspired us to work in both a professional and gracious manner.
The Birch Bots do not take for granted the success at this early stage in our team’s history. We are extremely thankful to all of the individuals at FIRST, our fellow competitors, our school, and the two mentors of our team, Mr. Edward Brown and Mr. Woody March-Steinman, for all of the love and assistance we have recieved. As the captain of this team, I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to every Birch Bots member for being a critical part of the operation we run on a daily basis. From our driver to our scouts and pit crew, every individual puts forth an effort and provides a unique contribution that makes our team whole.
The moment the Birch Bots accepted the Rookie All Star Award, we all felt as though we were on top of the world.
